Incredible data breach!JP Morgan officially revealed data breach affected 76 million households

The USA TODAY Oct.3 says: The cyberattack on JPMorgan Chase & Co.,first announced in July, compromised information from 76 million households and 7 million small businesses, the company revealed Thursday in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the filing,JPMorgan notes that contact information, including name, address, phone number and e-mail address,as well as internal JPMorgan Chase information about the users, was compromised.

That’s a terrible thing! Almost all users’ information was stolen.

But JPMorgan says “there is no evidence that account information for such affected customers – account numbers, passwords, user IDs,dates of birth or Social Security numbers – was compromised during this attack.”

If so,the users might feel relieved a little bit.

But I’m afraid of the article reported in the New York Times Oct.2 that said “the hackers were able to gain the highest level of administrative privilege on more than 90 of the bank’s servers, according to people the newspaper spoke with who were familiar with the forensic investigation of the breach.”

Also in Japan, there was a large scale of customers’ information leakage in July.A contingent worker of a home study managing company had stolen the customers’ information from the database and sold them to several affiliate companies.

The numbers of the leakage cases will reach up to 20.7 millions. In this case, two directors, members of the board took responsibility by resigning.

It’s nice to see internet offers convenience to everyone,at the same time, we have to remember we are putting our personal information in jeopardy.

Aren’t there any perfect ways to protect our personal information on the web?
